Emma has a rare ability to turn what she sees into a work of personal insight. Such a gift is a rare quality to possess as it is the necessary force that lends the work to distinction and grips the observer’s attention and interest. Increasingly in her work, it is the dynamic of the movement that excites the eye, and this emotional hold draws one in to explore the picture and to respond to its meaning. It is her excitement to paint that gives her work its emotional appeal, and gives the forms and colours their compelling interest.”

Born in 1963, Emma studied Fine Art, History of Art and Education at Homerton College, Cambridge, qualifying with a B.Ed Degree in 1986. Having taught at Kingston Grammar School for four years, she stopped teaching to concentrate on her own work, and had her first solo exhibition at the Ozten Zeki Gallery, Walton Street, Chelsea in 1992, and the following year had her second solo exhibition at the Marryat Gallery, Richmond, Surrey.

Emma then moved to Wiltshire with her husband and brought up her family.

Benefitting from the stunning scenery surrounding her home on the boarders of Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire, her work is inspired by the variety of landscapes, woodland, down land, open plain, and field patterns. She is also works from her studio on the North Coast of Cornwall, the inspiration for many of her seascapes.

Emma’s paintings vary in scale, and gesture, using both thin and thick paint, big and small brushes, palette knife, and pastel drawing to create bright and vibrant canvasses.

Emma has exhibited at the gallery since 2006. She is also represented by galleries in Dorset, Surrey, and Kent. Since 2018 Emma has had solo exhibitions at Cricket Fine Art in London.
