Kate, born in 1961 and based in Norfolk, studied on a foundation course in Art and Design at Ipswich School of Art from 1978-1980 and at Brighton Polytechnic, now the University of Brighton from 1980-1983, gaining a B.A. (hons) degree in 3D Design, wood, metal, plastics, ceramics and a master's in 3D design, ceramics, from Cardiff Institute between 1983-1984.
Kate makes sculptural ceramics on the theme of the human head and figure, using the profile and outline to create her forms, which are simple and direct. She also makes press moulded platters and tiles which she decorates with slips and oxides.
