Dan creates his distinctive paintings in his studio on the top floor of Bristol’s Jamaica Street Studios, in Stokes Croft, the cultural heart of the city. Dan’s expressive, mixed media landscapes reflect his immediate surroundings, drawing upon the beauty of the south-west coastline in some pieces, while in others the backgrounds suggest a grittier, more urban feel.
Dan trained and worked in Illustration and Graphic Design before turning to painting in 2008. His mixed media paintings combine layers of impasto palette knife backgrounds with elements of typography and collage as well as screen printed detail. It is this multi-disciplinary approach that makes Dan’s work so recognisable and increasingly sought after.
2010 saw Dan’s first solo exhibition in Bath. He has since exhibited his work in galleries across the UK and Ireland and has taken part in shows in Europe, Asia and the United States. He is beginning to make a real name for himself.
